Bose Radar
UI/UX iOS App Design
Using Bose next-gen spatial audio technology, Radar demonstrates an entire new way to listen to music, stories, soundscapes, and more. Experiences created in the Bose AR (audio augmented reality) Creator tool come to life in the Radar app.
These audio experiences (spatialized music, interactive stories, guided walking tours) can be enjoyed by anyone, but are designed to be better with Bose. Meaning, a user, when presented with a choice inside of a story, can tap a button on the UI inside the app to “hear more,” for example, but with Bose headphones, she would be able to interact with the hardware to make the same choice (double tapping on the side, looking left, nodding, etc.).
An interesting design challenge with Radar was that Bose has an existing design language that I needed to adhere to. However, with Radar being experimental in nature, there were many assets and features that had no reference. So they had to be designed Bose-esque. Another challenge was that with Bose AR being foreign to users, the last thing we wanted was for the design to get in the way. It needed to be clear and concise, only surfacing what the user needed, nothing less.
