Paul McCartney

Website Design

It was a big deal when our pitch landed us the Paul McCartney website. While it wasn’t executed exactly as we had hoped, the experience around it was one for a lifetime.

The site was to be produced by HP, as they’d just landed a deal to create and deliver McCartney’s digital library. They wanted their back-end and engineering team in Cairo to build it. So, as development got underway, my boss and I got to go to Cairo for a week to meet the team. The experience was incredible: the pyramids, the sphinx, the people—just amazing.

More amazing, though, was the timing. Every morning I’d read about the civil unrest happening in countries nearby, getting closer every day. We left on a Friday, and the first coordinated demonstrations in Cairo happened two days later.
